It took a long time for the Indian society to look beyond engineering and medicine as career paths after high school (Grade 12). Few parents (and students are still there) who think like this. But, things are changing at last; and that’s a good sign.

However, students and parents are still not very clear about some of the subject fields and career paths, especially within the biological and life sciences domain. In India, if a student opts for PCB combination in Class 12, the society starts to believe and see them as future doctors. Due to this false impression, in most of the cases, students are forced to appear for medical entrance exams even if they don’t wish to. Sometimes, it is misleading as students themselves also start believing that they must become a doctor (or dentist). You don’t need to become a doctor or dentist just because you love Biology, or you are not becoming an engineer.

Lack of professional guidance results into disasters as when students realize that they are just running behind the crowd. They loose a good amount of time while figuring out a informed career road-map.
